Starter feeding calculator
Choose how much fed starter you need and a feeding ratio (starter : flour : water). The calculator returns grams, with a little extra so you always keep some back.
Which ratio should I use?
A higher ratio gives the yeast and bacteria more food, so the starter takes longer to peak. That is useful for timing: a 1:5:5 feed in the evening is often ready the next morning, while 1:1:1 suits a quick same-day bake. Warmer kitchens shorten every time in the table, and cooler ones lengthen it, so treat the times as a starting point and watch for a domed, bubbly top that has roughly doubled.
